Jewelry

The beauty of metals, colors of gemstones, flames from my torch, the feel of polished metal is my palate in which I create.  Old world craftmanship in a modern world my motto.

I often use lost wax casting as one process in which I create my jewelry. I hand carve my wax first, then invest it in a jeweler’s grade plaster. The wax object is burned out of the plaster in a hot kiln. While the mold is hot around 1000 degrees, I pour molten silver into the mold under a vacuum. After allowing the mold to cool, it then goes into a bucket of water to dissolve the remaining plaster. When the metal is removed from the plaster it is not shiny but very raw looking. It will need to be sanded and polished, then any stones used will be set. The lost wax process has been used in jewelry making from the 3rd millennium ce and has had few changes since then.

Another process I use is fabrication where I hand saw metal and solder pieces together to form beautiful jewelry. I will often use more that one process in creating a piece of Jewelry.

Jewelry makes you look and feel beautiful. I hope that you enjoy the Jewelry that I have made.
